Hi Jeremy, u have a really informative website!!
Would like to just ask, i am really not familiar with kk. But id like to visit those seafood restaurants & eat out places that u mentioned.
I am thinking to rent a car, but totally clueless of the location. Is KK n the places easy to locate n get around? Is there like a city map 4 me to look at so i can drive around? Btw im from Brunei

I think it is easy to drive around KK cause there are not too many roads here. Just a few major one. Yes there a city map, but Salut and Gayang is out side the city so might not in the map. Just ask for direction will do… Yes.. Many Brunei people come here for holidays.

Thanks for your info Jeremy,
I was wondering if u know of a stall which sells SOTONG! its a chinese man who rides his bicycle to his stall and sells only SOTONG bakar, and Marinated SoTong. Skinny man wif glasses. Not really a stall, more of like a sit out bench.
His stall used to be at the parking lot outside the Cinema. I heard he has relocated to elsewhere.
Do u know of this? If u do, please tell me the exact location k~? thankss in advance first

I wonder if these restaurants are Halal? I love seafood but just to be sure myself. Thanks in advance.

I did not see any halal sign at these seafood restaurants, but I saw many muslims have their dinner there. These restaurants only have signs that they don’t serve pork.

Hi Jocelyn,
Been asking around for the SOTONG bakar store behind the old Capitol Cinema, but so far has not yielded any result yet. May be this has become history.

Hi, is the restaurant far away from Rasa Ria resort? We plan to drop by Rasa Ria to see Orang Utan as Sepilok is too far away for our 5 days 4 nites self-drive KK trip.

Gayang Seafood Restaurant is only about 15 minutes away by car from Rasa Ria Resort.

Hi there, found your site by accident…. We are going to be in KK for 2 nights and Tuaran Beach Resort for 6nights early August. Can you suggest some restaurants outside resorts as we would love to experience local cuisine.
Also, are tourists better to book tours ect from home countries or are we better off trying to do sightseeing ourselves?

Salut Seafood and Gayang Seafood are good bet for some real nice seafood. While in Tuaran town must try the Tuaran noodle. There a shop beside the United Oversea Bank that sells great Soto (local beef noodle). D’Transit along the road to Tuaran also has good local food.
Most sightseeing is away from the city, so distance destinations are best going with tour agents, you can book with them when in KK or at your resort. Islands off KK and city tour can be easily done by yourself. Self drive is another option.
