Ocean Seafood village has a humble beginning with only about 12 tables and the small open air restaurant then was built entirely of wood and attap. For the past decade its business has been booming and the dinner crowds were coming in bus loads. Today Ocean Seafood Village has expanded almost ten times its original size. Just the aquarium area, the biggest in Kota Kinabalu, is about one thousand square feet. The new concrete building consists of three common rooms and one big hall. The big hall is used for big organized functions and it has a capacity of 800 persons. Ocean Seafood Village is one of the most exclusive seafood restaurants in Kota Kinabalu. Its delicious food and good service are part of the reasons why customers always come back for more.
With the huge aquariums filled up with many different types of clam, crab, fish, lobster, oyster, prawn and sea cucumber, customers can choose their desired dishes before these sea creatures are being sent to the kitchen. Skillful chefs and secret recipes combined with the fresh seafood, make these dishes among the best in town, simply delicious and prefect. Ocean Seafood Village is not only popular with the locals, many guests from West Malaysia, Hong Kong, and overseas also make this restaurant one of their destinations while in Kota Kinabalu.
The cooking style at Ocean Seafood Village is Chinese. Depending on which type of flavours, guests can choose their preferred flavour to go with their selections. Sweet & sour, kong pau (Hong Kong style), plain steamed, salty baked, spicy chilli and butter cooking are just some of the flavours to choose from. Steamed Grouper, butter prawn, deep fried tiger prawn, hong kong style crab, steamed lobster, and spicy chilli clam are among the dishes that are popular with guests. Ask the captains for more choices, they can recommend even more cooking styles. Note: this restaurant does not serve pork.
With the new hall completed Ocean Seafood Village also caters for wedding functions. Below is an eight-course wedding dinner that costs about RM 900 per table for ten.
