Equatorial Restaurant (KK)

Equatorial Restaurant first opened its door for business in September, 2007. Since then this fine dining Chinese cuisine restaurant has attracted many customers especially the local inhabitants of Kota Kinabalu. The restaurant is made up of three shop units which covered about an area of three thousand square feet. Once inside the restaurant, guests will be greeted with a spacious, bright and cold atmosphere. The table setting and interior design are typical of the many Chinese restaurants found in Malaysia. For cleanliness this restaurant received an "A" grade from the Kota Kinabalu Municipal council, which speaks volume for its housekeeping.

Diamond Restaurant

A good place to experience good tasty Chinese cuisine, yet keeping the wallet friendly is Diamond Restaurant. Popular dishes for Diamond Restaurant include the lemon chicken, steamed fish, pork chop Chinese style, ginger beef, and sweet & sour prawn, just to name a few here. Actually they have many more dishes for customers to choose from which consist of vegetables, soups, and meats. For seafood, clients can choose from prawn, crab, and cuttlefish. Apart from these dishes, Diamond fried noodles dry or wet which are also very popular, whether one chooses to dine in or take away. Like most other Chinese restaurants vermicelli and flat rice noodle (kui teoy) are also available. Diamond Restaurant was established in the early 70s, and KK Lites have been coming here for decades, while some of the local residents at the suburb of Luyang even grow up with this eatery. The older folks would have remembered that the restaurant was called Red Lantern, before changing to the present name in 1979.

Sungai Wang Restaurant

The choice for a good dining experience in Kudat town can be quite limited especially at night, since most of the shoplots would have closed for business by 6 pm and all the petrol stations in town will be closed by 8pm. Night life at Kudat is almost none existent. But if you do happen to end up at Kudat for an overnight trip do not be despaired, the Sungai Wang Seafood Restaurant at the New Tomborungus Township is a worth while restaurant to enjoy some really tasty seafood. The seafood in Kudat is of good quality as fishermen do bring in their daily catch. Sungai Wang Restaurant is also the main place for the Chinese Community to hold events like anniversary, baby shower, birthday and wedding.

Steamed Grouper

The Sungai Wang Restaurant serves mostly Chinese cuisine with seafood as the main selection. Beef, chicken and pork are also available in the menu. Popular prawn dishes like steamed fresh prawn, dry and wet butter prawn, and spicy tiger prawn are favourites among the customers. Live ocean fishes are available too, normally these fishes are the most pricey items on the menu. The cost for seafood here is considered moderate if compared with those in Kota Kinabalu.

Sushi Tei

Sushi Tei is an international Japanese restaurant chain, with about 37 outlets in the Asia Pacific region and it is still growing. With an origin from Singapore, many of Sushi Tei restaurants are found in South East Asia cities, like Kuala Lumpur, Jarkarta, Surabaya, Bali and of course Singapore. As an expanding international brand, it can be found as far south to the Australia continent with restaurants in Sydney, and branching out to the opposite direction, the northern hemisphere, it has also established outlets in China most cosmopolitan city, Shanghai.

To the delight of all KK Lites, in January 2011 Sushi Tei has decided to open an outlet at Kota Kinabalu most prestige address, the Suria Sabah which is located on the waterfront. The restaurant is situated on the ground floor towards the end of the Kinabalu Mall. Its interior is modern and unique, and the tables along the glass wall do have a view to die for.

Beaufort Restaurant

Located on Jalan Penampang and not far from the Lido Market is this very popular Hakka style Chinese cuisine eateries called Beaufort Restaurant. This restaurant is well loved by the local, especially KK Lites who live in and around the Penampang area. The more sort after dishes here are the clay pot and the fried vegetables. The fried noodle at Beaufort Restaurant is single out as a must try item, the home made noodle is especially tasty and crunchy compares to the factory made type. Come early as seats are limited especially during dinner time from 7pm to 8pm.
