Somehow it seems that KK Lites only love to venture out for steak, lamb chop or chicken chop at night, that’s why there are so many of these Western food restaurants open only for business at night. This wonderful and cosy restaurant called Bella Italia, which serves mainly western food Italian style, is located at the ground floor of Jesselton Hotel. Jesselton Hotel is one of the longest running hotel in Kota Kinabalu City that boasts a local ownership. Belle Italia now occupies the place formally held by Gardenia Restaurant. Gardenia Restaurant was established since 1959 and many KK Lites have fond memories of this place as it was on the busy Gaya Street of yesteryear. Today the local management of Gardenia Restaurant has teamed up with an Italian group to set up a new business, hence the creation of Bella Italia Pizzeria Ristorante Cafe.

Check out the menu in Bella Italia, almost all the food names are in Italian, so some Italian language practice is needed to make orders. Luckily the description of the courses is in English, so that we do know what we are ordering. Like all Italian restaurants, there are plenty of pastas and pizzas to choose from. At the moment Belle Italia is giving great value for one’s money when one decides to dine at Belle Italia from 5pm to 7pm, all pasta and pizza has a knocked down price of 50%. Now everyone can eat.

A warm and relaxed atmosphere are what one feels the moment one steps into Vegas Bar & Grill. It has a simple but well planned interior, that used warm lights and rattans chair with red ribbon to brighten up the main section of the room. While the window tables and seats adopted a different setting from the main section, and two tables are located at the corner for those who need a bit of privacy.

Western cuisine is the main fare on the menu at Vegas Bar & Grill. Beef, chicken, fish and lamb are the few selection for one to choose from. Salads, soups, appetizers, burgers, and sandwiches, are served here. There are also some hawker style cooking like fried noodle and fried rice.

Vegas Bar & Grill is located at ground floor of the Multi Storey Carpark Complex at Jalan Damai Point, which is just next to the Damai Commercial Centre. From Kota Kinabalu City to the Damai Commercial Centre will take about 10 to 15 minutes drive depending on the traffic. (more…)
